Sydney Jane is a multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer. With over 14.5 million streams to date, she has garnered the attention of and worked with some of the biggest names in music (Disclosure, Michael Calfan, MJ Cole, Pusha T) and partnered with producers throughout the US, UK and Europe to write and perform songs featuring her signature soulful, airy vocals and unforgettable melodies.
Sydney has a breadth of experience that she has been building since the days of singing in her crib as a toddler. A native of Hartford, Connecticut, as a young child of five, Sydney’s vocal range and pitch was recognized by her teacher at the Artist’s Collective School of Performing Arts in her hometown. At 11, she was again recognized by her music teacher, for her almost perfect pitch and vocal maturity, while studying in London, England.
At the age of 13, Sydney joined her church choir in Norfolk, Virginia where she was quickly elevated to the performing ensemble. She also began taking piano and guitar lessons as well as classical vocal training. At the age of 14, she wrote, performed and recorded her first song, “Stay”. At the age of 15, she wrote, performed and recorded her first EP, “Hello Jane”. After distributing approximately 50 CDs, the project of eight songs became an instant hit in the Virginia Beach area and caught the attention of some of the most successful names in music in the area. Sydney performed at local music shows including on the main stage and yacht after- party of the legendary AFRAM Festival. After winning her high school’s pageant singing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing”, at just 16 years old, Sydney Jane had already begun to establish herself as a musical and performing artist to contend with.
After graduating high school a year early, in the top three percent of her class, Sydney’s music career continued to progress while she was a student at Howard University. Awarded a full academic scholarship, Sydney attended Howard to study music business and classical voice. She pursued both her music career and education as she continued composing, performing and juggling entertainment contacts and features. Although offered several management deals by the age of 19, none seemed to be the right fit.
At 20, Sydney decided to leave college, move to Los Angeles and follow her own, independent heart. In Los Angeles, Sydney began producing her own music, scored both short series and full-length feature films, released the EP, “Innocent Alive” and started her own alt-rock band, Love Me Jeffrey. She also traveled back to London and worked on several projects including Sydney’s Song which she co – wrote with renowned producer Micheal Calfan. With Sydney’s Song garnering her 4.5 million plays on Spotify alone, Sydney Jane was beginning to establish herself as a global artist. Back in Los Angeles, upon her return from London, Sydney’s alt-rock band released their first EP, “Colorful Decay”, which she co-wrote and arranged, and again, she successfully worked her way to the top of another genre. Following in the footsteps of rock history, The Doors; Love Me Jeffrey was scheduled to become the 2020 summer house band at the legendary Whiskey-A-Gogo.
However, due to the pandemic, everything stopped - but Sydney didn’t. She formed a group with her best friend, Carlitta Howard, and released music under the name Adjustment Period with one song, “Summer Fling” being featured in a Shiseido TikTok ad that garnered over 10 million views. Sydney also began participating in an online music community created by multi-platinum winning music producers, Disclosure. She joined their remix competitions, winning first place in one competition and placing in two others. She then began working with renowned UK Garage producer, MJ Cole, providing vocals and helping judge his remix competitions. Utilizing her online presence, Sydney began to pursue the music she loved as a girl living in London - UKG and House. Within the last two years, she has released 15 new UKG and House singles on various labels which have been aired on BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, and many other stations throughout the UK and Europe. She also formed a disco group, 4th Corner, with three other acclaimed musicians, which was immediately signed to the Patchouli Brothers’ disco label, Dodo Records. In 2022, Sydney was placed on 4 of the biggest Apple Music playlists, with her music from different genres and projects being featured in the same week. Sydney is proud to be a woman in music who is not confined by genre, expectation, or gender-roles and she hopes to continue to break boundaries in her future works.
Currently, Sydney brings her golden touch to her latest project, Delusions, a UK Garage EP she is creating with London-based multi-instrumentalist producer, songwriter and session musician Ray Alex. Delusions will arrive in 2024.
